The Mindanao State University-Sulu celebrated its 50th Founding Anniversary yesterday, Mar. 28, 2024 at the campus gymnasium.
The said celebration featured a Grand Iftar for the employees and selected students of the campus.
Prof. Rohina S. Adju, director for Administration and the OIC Chancellor, opened the program in lieu of Chancellor Nagder J. Abdurahman who is on travel. This was followed by the narration of the "History of MSU-Sulu" delivered by Vice-chancellor for Research, Extrension and Innovation, Prof. Hannbal Bara, and a Islamic lecture from Ustadz Abden G. Mohammad of the Department of Islamic Studies, College of Arts and Sciences.
The event was joined by the President of the University of the Philippines, Atty. Angelo Jimenez, who sent a video message congratulating MSU-Sulu for its 50 years of existence.
"MSU-Sulu's 50 years of hard work and resilience speak volumes about your academic community's commitment to achieving your vision of a world class academe, excelling in agri-fishery and applied science and technology for the inclusive development and transformation of Sulu and the BARMM," UP Pres. Jimenez said.
Also joining the celebration was Prof. Adzfar Usman, former Political Science professor of the campus and Member of the Parliament of the BARMM, who emotionally delivered a message for MSU-Sulu, highlighting how MSU-Sulu molded and continues to mold successful people from different walks of life. Meanwhile, Vice-chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Rafael A. Regellana, gave the closing remarks.
It was such a remarkable moment as all the MSU-Sulu employees sit together as they break their fast and listen to the words of appreciation, motivation and inspiration from all the respected individuals who shared the stories of greatness of MSU-Sulu.
